The NorCal Retail Forum in Richmond, California took a balloon arch for the room and floral balloon centerpieces for the tables, all in red, white and blue. A seated forum divides the brief in two — the front of the room where the program happens, and the tables where guests sit for an hour at a time — and centerpieces are what answer the second half.

Combining floral material with balloon design is a different proposition from either alone: flowers bring texture and a natural silhouette at close range, balloons bring color and volume that stays consistent through a long day under warm lighting.

The MSA corporate celebration in the Bay Area used flower-themed balloon columns with marquee letters in orange, yellow and teal. Here the floral reference is delivered in balloon form: the silhouette reads as flowers from a distance while the material behaves like balloon décor, which is the practical choice for an installation that has to hold its appearance across a full event.

In practice, florals earn their place at table level and at close range — centerpieces, table décor and detail elements at seated events, forums and luncheons — while balloon installations handle the room-scale work of entrances, backdrops and stage surrounds. Most corporate briefs are best served by choosing one for each job rather than by using both everywhere.
